If you’re ready to learn more about New Hope, membership classes are a great place to start. You’ll find out about our vision, values, and how to grow. The CLASS (Christian Life And Service Seminar) is a Bible-based series designed to help you grow spiritually. God wants you to take your next step: that could mean getting baptized, committing to digging into the Bible, discovering how God wants to use you to help others, or just learning more about God’s plan for your life. New Hope Church classes are all about those next steps.
Classes range in size, usually between 10 and 25 attendees, and are offered a few times each year. Pastors and ministry leaders combine to teach the classes in a loose lecture format. There’s some interaction, but don’t worry – there are no quizzes or tests. And while there’s opportunity to ask questions and have some dialogue, our class leaders will never call anyone out to speak in class or ever put anyone “on the spot.” Membership classes build on the lessons of previous sessions, so please plan to take classes in order.
Class 101: Belong (Membership)
This basic introduction to our church family is designed to clearly explain who and what New Hope is. You’ll learn about our beliefs on salvation, our statements of purpose, and our church’s strategy and structure. You’ll also hear about the history of our church, how the five biblical purposes are necessary to fulfilling God’s calling for your life, and the plans for the future of New Hope Church. At the end of class, you’ll be given the opportunity to decide whether to complete the membership process by filling out and signing the membership covenant or if you want to learn more about New Hope and God by attending worship and getting involved.
Class 201: Grow (Maturity)
Do you want to become more like Jesus? Class 201, “Discovering Spiritual Maturity” will help you develop the habits you need to nurture your own spiritual growth. It will give you an overview of the four basic spiritual habits every Christian needs in order to grow: daily time with God (prayer and time with God’s Word), giving, and fellowship. Spiritual maturity is being like Christ: “For from the very beginning God decided that those who came to him…should become like his Son” (Romans 8:29). Spiritual maturity is not automatic, but it is a process that takes discipline. Class 201 will help you develop the habits to “Continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of our savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18)
Class 301: Serve (Ministry)
Did you know that God created you with special gifts intended for his purposes? God didn’t design ministry for just a few – he made each one of us a minister. At Class 301, you’ll learn how God can use your Spiritual Gifts, your Heart, your Abilities, your Personality, and your Experiences (S.H.A.P.E.) to minister to the needs of others. “Ministry” is simply using whatever God has given you to serve Him and the needs of others. “A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.” (1 Corinthians 12:7)
Class 401: Share (Missions)
In Class 401 you’ll discover your life mission and how you can be a part of God’s plan to reach out to the world. This class will help you learn how to share your story with others, write down your personal testimony, and see how to impact the world around you with Christ's love.
Class 501: Develop (Lead)
Designed to give those who have completed the basic Class levels an additional method of learning, these classes are offered as need and opportunity arise.
